How do Dermal/Facial Fillers work?

As we get older, our skin loses its natural elasticity, it’s a part of life…

But now, by using Dermal Fillers we can restore our skin to its former glory. Dermal Fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance found in the body. Hyaluronic Acid helps to keep our skin hydrated, full of volume, plump and firm. When we are young, we have high levels of HA in our skin, hence why we had such good skin! Yet as we age, these levels of HA decrease and we begin to see wrinkles and loss of volume.

We have high standards and our products reflect this.  By injecting Hyaluronic Acid just under the surface of the skin, it instantly boosts your skin’s firmness and produces fast results to add volume to your features. The new support given by this type of Dermal Filler, smooths out any unwanted fine lines, folds or wrinkles in your skin immediately, so you can have younger-looking skin from the first session.

We want to give you the most natural-looking results possible. To achieve this, your aesthetician will use an expert technique to ensure that the filler is evenly distributed across the skin. By using a combination of massaging and injecting the area being treated, they will restore loss of volume and balance throughout your face.

This cosmetic procedure can take up to 30-45 minutes to complete. To make you more comfortable during the treatment, we can apply a topical anesthetic, which would take the treatment time up to one hour if needed.

Dermal Fillers are suitable for most skin types, yet upon consultation, we will determine whether this treatment is best for you and your skin.

What Dermal Filler results can I expect?

In every treatment we perform, we seek to enhance your features, not completely alter them. We are skilled in achieving subtle, gentle and natural-looking results. During your first consultation, your practitioner will discuss your expectations and your desired results. Your practitioner will then decide if Dermal Fillers can fulfil these outcomes.

How many Dermal Filler treatments will I need?

This treatment option is non-permanent as the skin continuously changing. There are many factors that affect the skin: age, environment and our genes. Knowing this, semi-permanent fillers are a safe option to avoid any long-lasting damage to the skin. To maintain the best results, multiple treatments may be necessary.

Depending on you and your skin, in your consultation, it will be discussed how many treatments will be required to give you your desired outcome. If multiple treatments are necessary, they will be in interval sessions every 2-4 weeks. This type of Dermal Filler typically lasts between 9 – 18 months.

Pre-treatment advice for Dermal Fillers

Please do not drink any alcohol during the 24 hours before your treatment. We also advise that you avoid using aspirin or other non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs two days before your treatment (unless they are taken for a chronic medical condition). Avoiding these medications will reduce your risk of swelling and bruising at the point of injection. Ask your practitioner for further medical advice if you have any concerns.

Dermal Fillers aftercare

Dermal Fillers should not affect your daily life too much. Our  advice is that you should avoid wearing make-up. Dermal Fillers are also safe to use with other treatments like Boxtox®. Ask your practitioner for further information about other cosmetic procedures that are safe to have with Dermal Fillers.

We also recommend that you do not go to the gym, or use its facilities like saunas, steam rooms or swimming pools on the same day as treatment. You should also avoid touching the treated area, to avoid infection and irritation.
