As your levels of collagen decline, the support it provides will gradually diminish, which is why our skin starts to show its age. There are many different signs of ageing and the causes and rate at which they appear, will depend on your genetics, lifestyle and UV exposure.

Lines and wrinkles are the most well-known signs that skin is ageing and they are actually different depending on their appearance. Lines are usually small and fine and are caused by repeated muscle movement such as smiling, laughing and frowning. They are usually present where the muscle moves, such as underneath and around the eye, the lips, cheek, forehead and eyebrow areas.

Wrinkles, have a harsher appearance than lines and are usually static and more dramatic. They can be located anywhere on the face, neck, chest arms or body. Even when the muscle is relaxed, they still appear as visible folds, ridges and creases in the skin.

Other signs of ageing are:

  • Age spots – caused by the over exposure sun and appear on these sun damaged areas
  • Sagging skin – as the natural release of Collagen declines, your skins firmness does also
  • Dull skin – caused by the build-up of dead skin cells which comprises your healthy, youthful glow
  • Dry skin – the gradual decline of Hyaluronic Acid causes your skin to lose its natural moisture and hydration

Other causes to consider are over exposure to the sun and smoking as these can speed up the ageing process.

In our clinics, we are dedicated in helping you fight the signs of ageing and believe that by preventing the deepening of lines straightaway is the key to doing so. Our anti-ageing treatments are clinically proven to completely erase, and significantly reduce, the appearance of fine lines and deep-set wrinkles, helping you to combat the early signs of ageing. In your 20s – Skin Solution Stage: Management and Prevention

Even youthful skin requires nourishment and preventative measures in order to determine how it will look later on in life. A greater understanding of the ageing process means people in their 20s are taking better care and seeking preventative action.

During our 20’s, the skin is at the peak of cell production and you will have an abundance of Collagen and Elastin, giving your skin its plump and firm appearance. Despite the high rate of cell production, cell damage still occurs. Due to a combination of poor skincare, UVA and UVB exposure, genetic influences, pollutants, poor diet and hormonal changes, cell damage can still affect people in their 20s. Your skincare routine in your 20s should look to identify any potential vulnerabilities or deficiencies, e.g tendency to burn, low iron, hyperpigmentation, freckles etc – as all these can affect the appearance of your skin. You should also address immediately any present concerns, such as Acne or Acne Scarring, when you’re younger as you may be more responsive to the treatment. Identifying these areas early means you can take the right preventive measures to lessen any problems future you may have.

In your 30s – Skin Solution Stage: Evident

In your 30’s you are likely to begin seeing the first visible signs of ageing, this is due to the natural declination of new cell production. You may see the skin starting to get thinner, feeling less hydrated and losing volume. The skin may also appear wrinkled, lined, dull and your skin tone by being unbalanced. Other skin disorders such as rosacea, pigmentation, red veins and milia will often become more pronounced during this time.

During this age, a combination of treating the visible issues, together with a programme to prevent further damage should be considered. Our approach is to implement treatments that stimulate the production of collagen and improve fullness to keep your skin in its maximum condition (such as Dermal Fillers).

In your 40s – Skin Solution Stage: Active Ageing

For people within this stage, you may experience your skin starting to lose its volume more clearly than before, especially within the upper face. As structural changes present themselves boldly in the mid-face, you may also be aware of the visible loss of volume in your cheeks. As skin elasticity starts to break down in the lower face and neck, you may be more prone to crepey skin and lines. A combination of treatments is advised, including resurfacing, defining and volumising your skin to rejuvenate at a deeper level.

In your 50s – Skin Solution Stage: Menopausal

In the menopausal and post-menopausal years, the ageing process is accelerated more rapidly than in any other decade. During this time your skin changes at a fundamental level, with skin elasticity, hydration and tone visibly deteriorating. To soften these effects, a wide range of non-invasive treatments are available, such as Skin Resurfacing and remodelling techniques such as Non-Surgical Face Lifts. Treatments like these redefine the facial shape and can restore volume to hollow and sunken areas.

Our treatments are always accompanied and complemented by an intensive skincare regime, modified to your needs in order to give you the best, most natural-looking results.

In your 60s – Skin Solution Stage: Post-Menopausal

Gravity is the biggest contributing factor to your skin looking visibly aged during these years. Cell renewal and repair has decelerated, fine lines and wrinkles are deeper, veins are more prominent, and thinned skin appears more translucent. Your skin’s ability to heal in your 60s is impaired by a significant reduction in collagen production, visibly leaving the skin weakened and lax. A subtle combination of resurfacing and contouring treatments are recommended if you’re looking for an immediate visible impact, as well as treatments that stimulate collagen production.
